Sweet ‘n’ Salty Popcorn

My recipe for Sweet ‘n’ Salty Popcorn is the perfect snack to accompany your favourite movie or box set and the best part is, it couldn’t be easier to make. Though I should warn you, this popcorn is very moorish, but heck, it can’t be that bad for you, can it….?Sweet 'n' Salty Popcorn

Ingredients:

Half cup of Popcorn Kernals

30g Salted Butter

5 Tsps of Golden Caster Sugar

1 Tblsp Water

1 Tblsp Sunflower Oil

Salt

Method:

So first of all, make the salty sweet syrup. Add the sugar and water to a small pan and heat gently to dissolve the sugar. When it’s nearly there, add the butter and continue to heat until melted then set aside the mixture to cool.

Next, time to pop some corn! Take a large pan, pour in the oil and allow it to heat up. Then toss in the popcorn kernals, pop the lid on (excuse the pun..) and give it a good shake to coat the kernals with oil. Then simply wait for the unmistakeable sound of the corn as they pop into wonderful golden clouds of yummyness. Give the pan a shake every so often and all the corn should be popped within a few minutes.

Take the pan off the heat and tentatively take the lid off to check all the corn has popped. WARNING, many a time a rogue corn has sprung up and popped giving me an awful shock so be wary!

Transfer the popped corn to a large bowl and slowly drizzle over the syrup as you stir around the popcorn. Then simply salt to taste and voila, the perfect sweet and salty snack!
